Cortaflex the No.1 equine joint
supplement
Since the launch of Cortaflex some companies have tried
to copy the formulation by producing products that share some of the
same ingredients
- This does not make Cortaflex
There have also been claims made by other companies such
as Feedmark that ExtraFlex HA is the "highest spec joint supplement
ever". As
can be seen from the Table below, this is not the case. In its
key ingredients, regular Cortaflex Powder (which is ideal for maintaining
joint mobility) is more than four times the strength of ExtraFlex HA,
with Cortaflex HA being even more concentrated.

The Chondroitin & Glucosamine Problem
-
Many other joint supplements on the market today still
rely on Glucosamine, Chondroitin or a combination of the two. Equine
America has always maintained that the problem with Chondroitin and
Glucosamine is that these molecules are too large to be absorbed efficiently.
- Latest research shows that only 2½% of Glucosamine
and 22 - 32% of Chondroitin fed to horses is absorbed through the
digestive tract.
After
oral dosing, the mean bioavailability was 2½%. Determination of
bioavailability after dosing to horses provides evidence that glucosamine
is absorbed orally, albeit low.

bioavailablity of the higher molecular weight Chondroitin Sulphate

- Cortaflex does not rely on the larger Chondroitin
and Glucosamine molecules. Cortaflex is a unique formulation of the
smaller key active isolates of Chondroitin and Glucosamine. These
smaller molecules are absorbed in higher concentrations and stimulate
the body's own production of Chondroitin and Glucosamine, resulting
in a fast, highly effective product.
